Stabilo Wicks

Wedo Stabilo wicks (formerly known as CD wicks) are particularly well-suited for paraffin, blended, and harder-to-melt vegetable waxes (like soy and beeswax), especially when used in highly scented candles.

Compatible Wax Types

Paraffin Wax: Stabilo wicks are fully compatible with traditional paraffin wax and blended waxes, providing a clean, consistent burn.
Vegetable Waxes: They work effectively with various vegetable-based waxes, which are often harder to melt than paraffin. This includes:
Soy wax: They are commonly used in soy container candles, especially the larger sizes (Stabilo 14-18).
Beeswax.
Rapeseed wax.
Palm wax.
Scented and Colored Waxes: The wicks are engineered to promote maximum capillary action and maintain a stable flame posture, making them ideal for handling high fragrance and dye loads without excessive sooting or "mushrooming".

Usage Notes

Wicking Up for Vegetable Waxes: When using Stabilo wicks with denser vegetable waxes, you may need to use a wick size one or two sizes larger than you would for a paraffin wax candle of the same diameter to ensure a proper, full melt pool.

Testing is Essential: Suppliers emphasise that, due to the variations in wax type, fragrance oils, and dyes, trial and error is the only way to ensure correct wicking for a specific candle formulation
